Brief History of our Origin

Historically, the constitution of the United Supreme Council, 33°, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction, U.S.A., Prince Hall Affiliation mandates the existence of a Council of Deliberation within each territory or state under the Southern Jurisdiction’s authority (Louis W. Roy Sr., Council of Deliberation, 1992).

 

The earliest estimation on the Orient of Washington D.C. records appeared in Jonathan Davis Consistory No. 1’s balusters on Monday, May 23, 1921. Under the sponsorship of Illustrious Arthur J. Smith, Commander-In-Chief, who asked for the formation of a Council of Deliberation, to which the members present agreed.
